MACOMB, IL – St. Charles East High School senior James McAdams, of West Chicago, has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which covers four years of tuition, fees and a residence hall room at the school.

High school students with an ACT score of 32 or higher and a grade point average of 3.5 or higher are eligible for the scholarship.

McAdams said he will likely major in meteorology at Western. He said he chose to come to WIU because it is close to home and offers the programming he was looking for.

At Western, McAdams said he hopes to participate in marching band and science- and severe weather-related clubs.

In high school, McAdams participated in Scholastic Bowl, the Science Olympiad, marching band, jazz band and the pit orchestra.

After graduation from WIU, McAdams plans to attend graduate school to pursue meteorology further.
