Depression Screening Day Sept. 12

MACOMB, IL - - October is National Depression Awareness Month, and the Western Illinois University Counseling Center, in conjunction with National Depression Screening Day, will provide an anonymous and free Depression Screening Day from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12 at the University Counseling Center in Memorial Hall, room 102.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the signs and symptoms of depression, as well as participate in a screening, which can also assist in determining bipolar disorder, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Participants can also receive informational material and view a brief video on the causes and symptoms of depression and suicide and the treatment of depression.

According to the University Counseling Center, participants can complete an anonymous written screening and have the opportunity to discuss the results with a counselor.
