RE: Residence Hall Move-In Aug. 17

Western Illinois University President Jack Thomas and other senior-level administrators will again be a part of WIU's Move-In Crew Saturday, Aug. 17.

Thomas, along with Provost Ken Hawkinson and vice presidents Brad Bainter (Advancement and Public Services), Julie DeWees (Administrative Services), Gary Biller (Student Services) and Joe Rives (Quad Cities and Planning) will help students move into Bayliss, Henninger and Tanner halls.

Media interested in interviewing new students and administrators, and taking photographs and video should arrive around 9 a.m. at Bayliss-Henninger (north quad).

Due to traffic congestion and to avoid getting caught in move-in lines, media are asked to park in the following lots: Q-Lot (west end) or the lot between Western Hall and Waggoner Hall. Parking is also available in the University Services Building lot (directly east of the Western Illinois Credit Union).
In addition, media are invited to attend the New Student Convocation at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 in Western Hall, followed by the President's Family Picnic on the campus mall, southwest of the Spencer Student Recreation Center.

For more information or to confirm attendance, call University Relations at (309) 298-1993. If you would like my cell phone number in the event you need to contact me Saturday, please e-mail me at DR-Shinberger@wiu.edu.

Media are also invited to attend the following:

Sept. 4: Community-University Partnership Program (CUPP) Block Party, 5-7 p.m., front lawn of Sherman Hall

Sept. 23: Founders' Day, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Union Grand Ballroom
