MACOMB, IL -- Services for L. Elaine Derry, a retired longtime Western Illinois University employee, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2 at the Sciota Christian Church. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to services. Derry, 71, of Macomb, passed away at July 30 at McDonough District Hospital.
Derry started working at WIU in 1973 as a clerk typist in computer services. She joined the law enforcement and justice administration department in 1974, where she worked as a secretary for more than 22 years. Derry transferred to the Illinois Law Enforcement Executive Institute at Western in 1997, retiring in 2001.
She is survived by her husband, Larry; two children; and one sister.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Linda's Fund at McDonough District Hospital.
