Performing Arts Society's Annual Diamonds and Denim Event Planned for Aug. 9 at The Forum

MACOMB, IL – The Performing Arts Society at Western Illinois University will once again bring its "Diamonds and Denim" event to The Forum in Macomb on Friday, Aug. 9.

The seventh annual event will run from 6:30 – 10 p.m. and will again include a raffle for a one-carat diamond in a solitaire setting. Each year the diamond is donated by Sue Melton, owner of Macomb's Diamond Den.

The stone's retail value is $4,000 and the winner is responsible for any applicable taxes. Tickets for the raffle are $5 each, three for $10 or 10 for $20.

The entertainment for this year's event is "JammSammich," a Peoria-based cover band with a fanbase called "SammichHeads." The band's playlist includes tunes from four decades, including Motown, disco, funk, hip-hop, retro 80s, Jimmy Buffet and rock.

Admission to "Diamonds and Denim" is $10 per person. Tickets are available at Diamond Den, Citizens Bank, The Barbershop, Nelson's Clothing, MidAmerica National Bank, R & R Spa, West Pierce Liquors, at the dean's office in the College of Fine Arts and Communication at Western or at the door. Light hors d'oeuvres will be provided during the event by Hy-Vee Food Store of Macomb.

The Forum is located just off Macomb's downtown square, at 124 N. Lafayette St.
