MACOMB, IL – Harold L. Richards High School senior Rebecca Dunterman, of Chicago Ridge, has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which covers four years of tuition, fees and a residence hall room at the school.

High school students with an ACT score of 32 or higher and a grade point average of 3.5 or higher are eligible for the scholarship.

Dunterman said she will likely major in psychology at Western, with a focus in neuroscience.

Dunterman said she chose Western because of its "welcoming environment" and because of WIU programs, such as the Honors College.

"Western offers a high quality academic environment and has been accommodating and friendly during my application and enrollment processes. The financial aid and scholarship opportunities offered are exceptional and made Western an obvious choice for me," she said.

In high school, Dunterman participated in the swim team, the water polo team, drama club and the National Honor Society.

After graduation from WIU, Dunterman plans to attend graduate school.
