MOLINE, IL -- The Western Illinois University-Quad Cities campus has been selected as a recipient of the Network of Young Professionals of Quad Cities chapter's Community Impact Award.

WIU-QC was chosen for the organization's 2013 "Liveability Award," which recognizes the institution's commitment to making the Quad Cities "a more accessible, liveable and attractive place to call home."

Joe Rives, vice president of the Quad Cities and planning, accepted the award on the behalf of the University at the Young Professionals program May 2.

"We are honored to be recognized by the Network of Young Professionals of the Quad Cities," Rives noted. "Our mission is to offer expanded public higher education opportunities to the residents of this region, and to work with community organizations to promote the Quad Cities as an ideal place to live, work and learn. We are grateful for all of the community support as the Quad Cities continues to grow and thrive."
