Residence Life Director Candidates Interviews Set

MACOMB, IL -- Four candidates for the Western Illinois University University Housing and Dining Services director of residence life position will be on campus for interviews Friday, April 26, Monday, April 29, Wednesday, May 1 and Friday, May 3.

Director candidates include Mishelle Oaks, director of academic support programs at Monmouth College (April 26); Jessica Robinson, assistant director for student development at Indiana State University (April 29); Rachel Alldis, central assistant director of residential life and housing at New York University (May 1); and Laura Schnack, assistant director of residence life at Samford University, Birmingham, AL. (May 3).

Open meetings for student services staff and University faculty/staff/students will be held from 10:30-11:15 a.m. in the Corbin-Olson conference room. Interview schedules and resumes are available at wiu.edu/employment.

Oaks has served as the director of academic support programs at Monmouth College since July 2011. Previously she was the assistant director of residence life at University of Central Missouri from 2006-2011. Oaks has also served as the complex director at Minnesota State University (2004-2006); as residence life coordinator at Kansas State University (1999-2004); and as assistant hall director at Western (1997-1999).

Oaks earned her Ed.D. from University of Missouri-Columbia; her master's degree from Missouri State University; and her bachelor's degree from Western.

Robinson has served as assistant director for student development at Indiana State University since December 2009. Previously, she served as a residence hall director at Western Michigan University from 2006-2009.

Robinson received her master's and bachelor's degrees from Eastern Michigan University.

Alldis has served as the central assistant director of residential life and housing at New York University since June 2004. Previously she was the assistant director of residence life at Emerson College from 2001-2004. Alldis has also served as residence director at Syracuse University (1998-2001), and assistant first-year adviser/hall director at Miami University, Oxford, OH (1996-1998).

Alldis earned a certificate in meeting, conference and event management from New York University; her master's degree from Miami University; and her bachelor's degree from Bradley University.

Schnack has served as the assistant director of residence life at Samford University since June 2011. Previously she was the assistant director for residence life operations (2008-2011) and area coordinator (2006-2011) at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA. She has also served as a residence hall manager at Luther College in Decorah, IA (2005-2006).

Schnack earned her Ed.D. from Benedictine University; a master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse; a master's degree from the University of Iowa; and a bachelor's degree from Luther College.

The director of residence life is responsible for the overall staffing and programming of a program housing 4,000 students in residence halls and apartments. This includes coordinating the selection, training and supervising residence life staff, developing and coordinating academic and special lifestyle communities, developing, instructing and coordinating a credit-bearing course, judicial and crisis intervention and advising of Inter-Hall Council.
