MACOMB, IL - Area high school students demonstrated their financial accounting knowledge on Western Illinois University's Macomb campus during the eighth annual Accounting Challenge, Friday, April 19.

Sponsored by WIU's accountancy department, Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) and the Illinois CPA Society, the event not only provided area students a chance to showcase their accounting skills through a written competition, but it also provided them with information about Western's accountancy department and College of Business and Technology.

During this year's event, eight area high schools and a total of 84 students competed. Western awards scholarships to each first, second and third place individual winner to major in accounting at WIU.

While the students were testing, an education round table was conducted for instructors. Western faculty leading the roundtable included Greg Woodruff, chair of WIU's Department of Accounting and Finance department, and Cheryl Westen, faculty adviser of Beta Alpha Psi.
