Services Planned for Farley Rippey

MACOMB, IL – A memorial service for Phyllis Armstrong Farley Rippey, 64, retired dean of the Western Illinois University College of Arts and Sciences, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 27 at the University's Multicultural Center.

Farley Rippey came to Western in 1989 to serve as an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science. She was named the College of Arts and Sciences dean in 1995, a role she served in until 2003. She was the college's first female dean. Farley Rippey also served as past president of the Western Organization for Women, winning the organization's achievement award in 1997-98.

She is survived by her partner, James Renshaw, two daughters; one brother; four grandchildren; three stepchildren; one niece and one grandnephew.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to McDonough District Hospital Hospice, the WIU Women's Center Foundation or National Public Radio Affiliate WIUM
