MACOMB/MOLINE, IL -- Western Illinois University President Jack Thomas will host two special presentations Wednesday, April 17 to discuss the University's Fiscal Year 2014 budget.

The first budget presentation will be held from 9-10 a.m. in the University Union Capitol Room and via videoconferencing to Room 111 on the WIU-Riverfront campus in Moline. The second presentation will be held from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Union Heritage Room (no connection to the WIU-QC campus). All WIU employees are encouraged to attend.

Gov. Pat Quinn recently recommended a FY'14 budget of $49.6 million for Western, which will result in a $2.5 million decrease from FY'13 state appropriations. Budget Director Matt Bierman will discuss the governor's recommendation, pending legislation and other budget issues that will impact WIU.

"As I stressed in my letter to the campus community last month, we will be facing another challenging year. We invite the University community to attend one of these special sessions to learn more about our budget in the next fiscal year," Thomas noted.
