WIU Jazz Studio Orchestra featuring Jeri Sager April 17

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University's premier large jazz ensemble for more than two decades, the Jazz Studio Orchestra (JSO) will perform in concert, with special guest vocalist Jeri Sager, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 17 in the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) Recital Hall.

Sager, best known for her portrayal of Grizabella in Andrew Lloyd Weber's "Cats," has also performed as Fantine in "Les Miserables" and Eva Peron in "EVITA." She has also performed in "City of Angels," "Brigadoon," "West Side Story," "Pippin," "The Mystery of Edwin Drood,"
"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and "Pump Boys and Dinettes."

Sager performed alongside Bob Hope, Gregory Peck, Michael Crawford, Betty Buckley, Theodore Bikel, Bill Anderson, and John James. She has performed for President Jimmy Carter, President George W. Bush and Pope John Paul II. Through her work with the USO, Sager has performed for both American and British troops.

JSO's performances venues have included Fitzgerald's and The Green Mill jazz clubs in Chicago; and they were featured with Italian jazz composer Marco Renzi and clarinetist Bepi D'Amato at Carnegie Hall in 2010. Also, a Jazz Festival is held annually at Western, with the JSO performing with guest artists.

Tickets for the WIU show, available at bcabringsthestars.com/tickets, are $15 for the public, $10 for WIU employees, senior citizens and youth and free for WIU students with valid identification. Tickets are also available at the Hainline Box Office noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or call (309) 298-2900.
