MACOMB, IL - Western Illinois University Professor Ann Walsh has been named Professor of the Year by Beta Gamma Sigma, a prestigious business honorary society.

Walsh, a marketing professor in WIU's Department of Management and Marketing, teaches at the WIU-Quad Cities Riverfront Campus. This is the third year in a row that this honor has been won by a WIU-QC-based faculty member.

"The recognition was a complete surprise and is truly special to me because it was generated by students," Walsh said.

Walsh has been a professor at WIU since 1998. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Iowa State University and her doctoral degree from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.

Beta Gamma Sigma is a prestigious society available to students at schools and colleges of business accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, which includes WIU. AACSB International accredits only about 15 percent of business schools in the United States and less than 5 percent of business schools worldwide.

Student membership in the society is limited to the top 10 percent of junior and senior business students and the top 20 percent of graduate students.
