MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University Relay for Life event will be held Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13 on the Macomb campus.

"Saving the World, One Cure at a Time," will be held on the WIU Quad, with this year's event having a super hero theme. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved indoors to the Donald S. Spencer Student Recreation Center.

Sign-in will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 12, with an opening ceremony getting underway at 6 p.m.

Cancer survivors are invited to attend and will be celebrated at the event. Money raised through the annual walk will benefit the work of the American Cancer Society.

So far, the event has raised nearly $10,000 and has more than 480 participants on 38 teams signed up to participate.
