MACOMB, IL – Explore the career opportunities in the health sciences field at the Western Illinois University Department of Health Sciences' Career Forum next week. The event will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20 in the University Union Grand Ballroom and is open free to the public.

According to Chaundra Bishop, a graduate assistant in the health sciences department, the event will feature department alumni who are working in the field at various places including from the Knox County Health Department, Caterpillar, Purdue University and the Illinois Hospital Association. The panel of alumni will introduce themselves and then break off into round tables, where attendees can sit down with them and ask specific questions about their current positions and employers, she noted.

"It is our hope that it will be beneficial to both current students already in the department, as well as be helpful for individuals who have not yet declared majors but are interested in the health field," Bishop said. "We are also actively inviting area high school students so they can come and explore opportunities in the health sciences field and the benefits the WIU health sciences program offers."
