MACOMB, IL – Cuba Community High School senior Sara White, of Smithfield, IL, has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which covers four years of tuition, fees and a residence hall room at the school.

High school students with an ACT score of 32 or higher and a grade point average of 3.5 or higher are eligible for the scholarship.

White plans to major in accounting at WIU and hopes to explore the University's marching band program. She said she chose WIU because of its wide variety of academic programs to choose from and the opportunities available in her major.

"They have ample opportunities for almost any imaginable career choice," she said.

In high school, White was active in art club, Scholastic Bowl, Peer Assistance, National Honor Society, concert and marching band, 4-H, NYI, teen Bible quizzing, the prom committee and the choir at her church.

After graduation, White hopes to get a job as a certified public accountant or pursue a similar accounting-related field.
