The School of Music offers the Master of Music degree. Students may specialize in Music Education, Performance (Instrumental, Vocal, Piano, and Organ), Piano Pedagogy, Conducting (Choral and Instrumental), Music Composition, Musicology, and Jazz Studies (Performance and Composition). The School of Music is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.

Designed especially for the practicing teacher, the School of Music also offers a four-year summer session Master’s program in music education. Detailed information may be found in the Graduate Handbook.

A number of graduate assistantships are available each year to qualified applicants. Music graduate assistantships provide the student with a tuition waiver and a monthly stipend in return for 13-20 hours per week of work in the department. Graduate assistants have the opportunity to work closely with faculty in teaching, performance, and the directing and administration of performing ensembles.
