Football Memorabilia on Display

In addition to all of the events planned on and around campus, WIU Athletics and Libraries' Archives and Special Collections Unit has teamed up to display football and other WIU memorabilia on Saturday, October 1, 2011from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Hall of Fame room in Western Hall.

The exhibit is free and open to the public and will contain photos, yearbooks, and other memorabilia from the Archives and Special Collections Unit. Visitors can peruse these materials at their leisure -- they may even find photos of themselves and their friends from back in the day! Many, but not all, items displayed are from the specific class reunion dates of 1961, 1971 and 1986. Also displays have been created featuring this year's Hall of Fame inductees.

According to Heather Richmond, Assistant Archivist, "The Archives and Special Collections Unit is really excited to collaborate with Athletics for the second year in a row and bring this exhibit to Western Hall. It's a wonderful way for us to showcase our collections by exhibiting the University's history. It was so much fun last year to watch the alumni go through the photos and pick out their pictures."

WIU Libraries and Athletics welcome alumni, friends and family to stop by Western Hall and enjoy the historical exhibit before the football game. For information on specific collections, please contact the Archives and Special Collections Department at 309-298-2717.
