Program overview:
Based at the Institute of Irish Studies at Queen’s University in Belfast, this Study Abroad Course combines on-site classroom instruction with excursions to give you a fuller picture of Northern Ireland. Your on-site lectures are taught in an interdisciplinary approach by leading academics from various departments at Queen’s University, including history, Irish studies, management, English, and politics. Outside experts present additional information on various topics, both in lectures and site visits. Your evening activities include Irish dancing, music, and cinema. No matter your major or areas of interest, Northern Ireland has something for you.
Course Information:
UNIV 379 (3 hrs) and HIST 379 (3 hrs) will be taught by Dr. Jennifer McNabb and Queen’s University staff.
Class sessions will be held online prior to departure and on-site in Belfast. You are also required to attend a mandatory pre-departure orientation session conducted by the Office of Study Abroad.
Class participation, including contribution to discussions and attendance, is expected in all phases of the Course. Questions about course content should be directed to Dr. McNabb.
Eligibility requirements (degree-seeking students):
All majors welcome! Total enrollment is limited to 20.
1. Completed at least 12 semester hours
2. Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
3. Clearance of Student Judicial Programs
