Program overview:

This Study Abroad Course enables you to experience the art and culture of New York City firsthand. You can participate in art in a way unavailable on campus as well as be involved in a multicultural and multilingual city.

Each day's events correspond to the gallery and museum exhibits at that specific time within the context of the local flavor of the area. You will visit major comprehensive museums, galleries, and artist studios including the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Chelsea, Uptown and SoHo galleries, and others. Visits will also be made to Grand Central Station, Ground Zero, Wall Street, the Brooklyn Bridge, and many other New York City landmarks.

Health precautions:

Walking—Expect to walk 5-8 miles each day. It is not consecutive but scheduled throughout the day. Much travel is done by subway, requiring stair climbing to/from the subway stops. Temperatures can range from mid-70s to upper 80’s/90. Please be aware of your personal physical condition and notify faculty leader Susan Czechowski or Study Abroad Adviser Kim McDaniel if you have concerns about walking these distances or climbing stairs.
