Go West Bus

WIU has a great bus system called "Go West" that started in 1999. Go West Transit is in operation to provide quality fixed route public transportation services that enhance and improve quality of life for all people in Macomb.

The Go West bus system runs 17 bus routes around campus and Macomb. It offers great services to all students for free. Go West buses transport students to and from their residences, classes, around campus, and to local businesses. Go West operates seven days a week. Biking

Decrease your carbon footprint - bike more, drive less! Western Illinois University has designated bike lanes along many sidewalks through campus and bike repair stations for basic bike maintenance located on the northwest side of Grote Hall and north of the Union, near the kiosk. Amtrak Train

Amtrak connects Macomb with Chicago's Union Station. Amtrak offers round trip service twice daily from Macomb to Chicago with intermittent stops along the way. Reservations are encouraged two weeks in advance for the best rate. Senior citizens, children (ages 2-15), military, state travel, AAA, and Student Advantage discounted rates are available.

A full service location offering ticketing and reservations is also available in the University Union Concourse from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Monday- Friday. Cash, credit cards, debit cards, travelers checks, money orders, and personal checks are accepted. For more information, contact Amtrak.
