Below are scholarships that are available to currently enrolled students at WIU.

Western Illinois University International Commitment Scholarship, $3,000: available fall and spring semester

* Must be a newly admitted undergraduate or graduate, non-sponsored international student enrolling to WIU for the first time

* No scholarship application is required

* Minimum 3.5 GPA (confirmed by International Admissions Office; 3.5 GPA must be maintained for renewal)

* Admission into a degree program at WIU

* Full-time enrollment (minimum 12 semester hours for undergraduate or 9 semester hours for graduate)

* $1,500 will be awarded fall semester and $1,500 will be awarded spring semester

* Undergraduate students are required to live in University Housing, subject to availability, waived in the Quad Cities.  University Housing options include: Bayliss-Henninger, Tanner, Grote, Corbin-Olson, Lincoln-Washington, Thompson

* Scholarship only applied to WIU tuition. No cash refund are available for this scholarship.

Renewable for up to four years (or two years for graduate students) until student receives a degree (whichever comes first).

Students who are sponsored or have a graduate assistantship are not eligible for this scholarship.

 

Ruth Hughes WESL Scholarship: $700, available fall semester only

* Open to a student enrolled at WIU who is preparing to enter the field of ESL and who might be a student assistant in the WESL Institute

* Open to a graduate of the WESL Institute who has become a regularly admissible full-time student at Western Illinois University

* Preference will be given to African American students.

 

Rodney and Bertha Fink International Scholarship: $1,000 ($500 awarded in fall, $500 awarded in spring), available fall semester only

* Student must be current female international student

* Financial need will be regarded as an important requisite

* Preference may be given to applicants based on academic performance and/or demonstrated campus/community involvement.

* Preference will be given to a female student from an emerging/developing country majoring in Agriculture or Agriculture Business.

 

Oluseye Kolawole International Student Scholarship, $500, available fall and spring semester

* Student must be currently enrolled at WIU

* Demonstrate financial need

* Be an international student at WIU (preference will be given to Nigerian students)

* Be in good academic standing

Graduate students with assistantships are not eligible.

 

Phi Beta Delta International Student Scholarship, $500, available spring semester only

* Completion of one semester at WIU

* 3.2 GPA (undergraduates), 3.5 GPA (graduates)

* Be in good judicial standing

* Maintain full-time enrollment

 

Dr. In-Kon Kim Scholarship : $900 scholarship, available fall and spring semester

* Must be Korean National, GPA 3.0 or higher

* Must demonstrate financial need

* Must be within one year of completing FIRST degree from WIU

* Must be in good judicial standing

 

Macomb Branch AAUW International Student : $375 scholarship, available fall and spring semester

* Must be current full-time international student

* Financial need will be regarded as an important requisite.

* Must have attended WIU for two or more semesters.

* Must have at least 2.5 GPA

* Must be undergraduate

* Preference may be given to applicants based on academic performance and/or demonstrated campus/community involvement

 

WEOG Awards for International Students : (5) - $500 scholarships, available fall and spring semester

* Must be current full-time international student, male or female

* Financial need will be regarded as an important requisite

* Preference may be given to applicants based on academic performance and/or demonstrated campus/community involvement

 

Bessie Meyers Scholarship Fund : $350 scholarship, available fall and spring semester

* Must be current full or part-time international student, male or female.

* Financial need will be regarded as an important requisite.

* Preference may be given to applicants based on academic performance and/or demonstrated campus/community involvement.

 

Francis and Peggy Davern International Scholarship : $125 scholarship, available fall and spring semester

* Must be current full-time international student, male or female, any major

* Grad students must have 3.5 GPA or better; undergrads must have 2.5 GPA or better

* Must have a letter of recommendation from WIU international alum.
