 Study Abroad Honors Scholarship

Award: Up to $500 / Once per academic year
Criteria:

  • Good standing in the Centennial Honors College
  • Demonstrated progress toward the completion of honors requirements
  • A completed “Descriptive Proposal” form with required signatures
  • a letter of support from a full time faculty member

 Honors Research Grant

Award: Not to exceed $200 / Once per academic year
Criteria:

  • Good standing in the Centennial Honors College
  • Demonstrated progress toward the completion of honors requirements
  • Students must have a departmentally approved research project with a faculty research advisor and faculty research committee where relevant

 Dan and Laura Webb Pre-Law Scholarship

Award: $10,000 split in two equal installments ($5,000/semester)
Criteria:

  • Member in good standing of the Centennial Honors College
  • Must be a Pre-Law Honors minor
  • Minimum 3.5 WIU GPA
  • Demonstrate leadership in the field of Pre-Law
  • Supporting documents needed: Two page (minimum) typed essay showing your commitment to the study of law and highlighting your leadership in the field of Pre-Law; minimum of one letter of recommendation from a faculty member

 Maakestad/Wolf Scholarship

Award: $2,500 split in two equal installments ($1,250/semester)
Criteria:

  • Sophomore, junior or senior class standing at time of disbursement
  • Good standing in the Centennial Honors College
  • Minimum 3.6 GPA
  • Have completed the equivalent of one Honors class
  • Be in good judicial standing
  • Demonstrates financial need
  • Supporting documents needed: Two page (minimum) typed essay answering the following question "choose an experience from your life and how it has influenced your personal development and/or character"; minimum of one letter of recommendation from a member of the faculty, staff or administration

 Ernest J. Codilis Jr. Pre-Law Scholarship

Award: $10,000 split in two equal installments ($5,000/semester)
Criteria:

  • Good standing as a full-time student in the Centennial Honors College
  • Actively pursuing the Honors College Pre-Law Minor
  • Have at least a 3.0 GPA at WIU
  • Enrolled with senior standing the semester of scholarship disbursement
  • Demonstrate solid record of extracurricular participation- leadership preferred
  • Demonstrate solid record of campus and/or community service
  • Supporting documents needed: Minimum of one letter of recommendation

 Martin Dupuis Leadership Award for Historically Under Represented Communities

Award: $1,300 in one lump sum
Criteria:

  • Must be a member of a historically under-represented community.
  • Excellence in leadership and scholarship
  • Good standing in the Honors College
  • Supporting documents needed: Two page (minimum) typed essay explaining what you have learned or gained from your leadership activities; minimum of one letter of recommendation from a member of the faculty, staff or administration

 Cecile A. Christison Sterrett Award

Award: $1,350 in one lump sum 
Criteria
:

  • Good standing in the Centennial Honors College
  • Resident of Illinois or Missouri
  • Minimum 3.6 GPA
  • Have completed the equivalent of one Honors class
  • Demonstrates financial need and be of good moral character
  • Demonstrated leadership or civic duty through activities or community service, with preference to activities in the Centennial Honors College
  • Supporting documents needed: Minimum of one letter of recommendation from a member of the faculty, staff or administration

 Charles H. "Chick" & Barbara Joan Flack Pre-Law Scholarship

Award: $1,250 split in two equal installments ($625/semester) 
Criteria:

  • Good standing in the Centennial Honors College
  • Show intent to attend law school and practice law
  • Preference will be given to applicants from west central Illinois
  • Financial need is a consideration
  • Supporting documents needed: Two page (minimum) typed essay explaining your intent to study and practice law and why; minimum of one letter of recommendation from a faculty member

 Keith Webb Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,500 split in two equal installments ($750/semester)
Criteria:

  • Have a minor in pre-law
  • Have a 3.4 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Be in good judicial standing
  • Demonstrate strong potential for a career in law
  • Applicants should be committed to a career in Law
  • Preference will be given to juniors and seniors; however, all pre-law honors students are welcome to apply
  • Supporting documents needed: Two page (minimum) typed essay explaining why you wish to pursue a career in law; minimum of one letter of recommendation from a faculty member

 Annette Homer Travel Grant

Award: $500 - $1,000 (depending on travel destination)
Criteria:

  • Be a member in good standing of the Centennial Honors College
  • Have applied and been accepted to a WIU authorized Study Abroad program or WIU faculty led travel course
  • Preference given to honors studnets planning to take a General Honors (GH) travel course
  • Preference given to those who demonstrate financial need
  • Supporting documents needed: Two page (minimum) typed essay explaining what you hope to learn during your travel-study experience

 Paul M. Nollen Honors Biology Scholarship (competitive)

Award: $1,000
Criteria: Good standing in the Centennial Honors College

 Gordon W. Kirk Honors History Scholarship

Award: $1,000 per year for 4 years
Criteria:

  • Have a minor in pre-law
  • ACT 27 and above, or 24 to 26 and top 10%
  • History Major, Honors Degree Candidate
  • Annual renewal requires 3.4 GPA, History major and continued enrollment in the Centennial Honors College
