20th Annual President's Excellence in Diversity Awards

The purpose of the President’s Annual Excellence in Diversity Awards is to celebrate diversity efforts during the preceding year that have advanced our goals of Higher Values in Higher Education, increased diversity and created a campus climate that welcomes and supports all individuals. We wish to honor members of the university, Macomb and Quad City community who have demonstrated excellence in leadership, service, and education in diversity. The leadership award will be given to individuals in leadership roles that develop initiatives that enhance and further diversity goals. The service award will be given to individuals who have participated in or initiated in diversity related committee work, community involvement, and/or community outreach. The education award will be given to those who offer teaching, programming or activities designed to foster or enhance diversity.

All WIU students, employee’s (faculty and staff) and organizations/departments, along with members and organizations in the Macomb and Quad City communities are eligible. Please send all nominations to the Office of Equal Opportunity and Access, in Sherman 203, or email Janell McGruder at JL-McGruder@wiu.edu by Friday, March 27, 2009.

The awards reception will be held on Thursday, May 14th, 2009 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM in the Union Lamoine Room, with guest speaker Dr. Eric Mansfield, Professor in the department of Educational and Interdisciplinary Studies.
