Equal Opportunity & Access

Office of Equal Opportunity & Access

The Office of Equal Opportunity & Access reports to the President of the University and is responsible for the implementation of all Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity policies and programs.

The Equal Opportunity & Access office ensures that University policies and programs are in compliance with federal and state regulatory agencies, including Illinois Department of Human Rights (IDHR), Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and the Office of Civil Rights (OCR). The University's Anti-Harassment Policy is administered by the Office. The director of Equal Opportunity & Access is also the Campus Compliance Coordinator for the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Title IX Coordinator for the university. This includes monitoring and assisting academic and professional areas with personnel recruitment, hiring and other employment practices.

What is Affirmative Action?

The goal of the University's Affirmative Action Program is to increase employment and educational opportunities for women, minorities and persons with disabilities. Strategies to achieve this goal include targeted recruitment designed to increase the diversity of the applicant pools for vacant positions, and professional development programs that provide training and experience to increase the participation and achievement of underrepresented groups.
