National Fire Academy Program for Firefighters in the BGS Degree Program

A Bachelor of Arts in General Studies Degree may be right for you whether you are pursuing your first or second bachelor’s degree. Learn more about WIU’s BGS Program. Firefighters are the one exception to the restriction against individuals with regionally accredited bachelor’s degrees entering the BGS degree program to pursue a second bachelor’s degree.

Minor in Fire Administration

To obtain a minor in fire administration, students have two options: 

1) Complete 30 (semester hours) including all core National Fire Academy Program courses plus either one of the concentrations

 2) Complete 18 (sh) including the following four courses: FS 481, 482, 483, and 485 and 6 (sh) of additional directed electives.  

The minor is not available for students pursuing a second bachelor's degree.
