Western Illinois University's School of Music Opera Theatre (WIUOT) will present Le nozze di Figaro ("The Marriage of Figaro") at 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday, May 3-4 in the Hainline Theatre.

The Western Illinois University-Quad Cities School of Engineering will celebrate "A Decade of Engineering Excellence" Friday, May 3 at the WIU-QC Riverfront Hall 103/104.

Memorial Tree Planting May 7
Western Illinois University-Macomb employees who passed away between March 2018 and March 2019 will be remembered at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 7 during a brief ceremony at the Memorial Tree Grove, located on the southeast section of campus by University Village, near the West Pierce Street entrance. The ceremony is open to the public.
LIFE Class Concert May 13 in Macomb
A concert, connected to one of the Learning is ForEver (LIFE) classes in Macomb, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 13 at the First Presbyterian Church in Macomb, 400 E. Carroll St.

WIU to Offer First Online Sociology Degree by Illinois Public Institution
Beginning in the Fall 2019 semester, the Western Illinois University College of Arts and Sciences will offer an online sociology degree. WIU is the first public university in the state to offer an online Bachelor of Arts in Sociology degree and is one of only a few programs in the nation.
Athletic Training Program Opens Injury Clinic for Military Science Cadets
Western Illinois University's Departments of Kinesiology and Military Science will partner to open an injury prevention and rehabilitation clinic to serve military science cadets and offer hands-on training opportunities to athletic training students.
WIU Senior Named Winner of Barry Goldwater Scholarship
Western Illinois University senior Mariah Dicksen, a biology major from Lockport (IL), has been named a winner in the prestigious Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program. Dicksen is also a student in WIU's Centennial Honors College, is a WIU Presidential Scholar and is a member of The Marching Leathernecks. She is the first female WIU student to win the Goldwater Scholarship.
Oliva to Receive Honorary Doctorate
Western Illinois University graduate Samuel N. Oliva will receive the Western Illinois University Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters at Western's Spring 2019 Commencement exercises Saturday, May 11.

The 13th annual "Stuff the Bus, Get Off Your Cans" food drive, held April 10, brought in 5,740 non-perishable food items and $1,122 in donations.
Ag Legacy Sale Tops $32,500 for WIU's Animal Science Curriculum
The Western Illinois University School of Agriculture hosted its annual online Ag Legacy Sale Tuesday, April 16. This year's event had 134 lots up for sale, bringing in $32,547 for the University's animal science curriculum.
Candace J. Eastman Obituary
Retired Assistant Director of Development for WQPT Candace J. Eastman, of Silvas, IL, passed away April 11 in Peoria. Funeral services were held in Silvis April 15, followed by burial in East Moline.
