WIU Earns U.S.News & World Report Best Online Program Ranking
Western Illinois University been recognized once again by the U.S.News & World Report for offering some of the best online degree programs. Western is ranked 76th out of 348 ranked colleges and universities from across the U.S. in the 2019 "Best Online Programs: Bachelor's" category and is one of four Illinois public universities in the top 100.
Universitywide Kinder Mondays Continue
Kinder Mondays, which started as a program created by two counselors from the Western Illinois University Counseling Center in Fall 2016, is now a Universitywide program that aims to bring a little more kindness into people's lives.
WIU Designated Tree Campus USA for Seventh Consecutive Year
For seven years in a row, Western Illinois University has been designated a Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation. The national Tree Campus USA program was created in 2008 to honor colleges and universities for effective campus forest management and for engaging staff and students in conservation goals.
Daly Named Interim Director of Admissions
Kassie Daly, associate director of admissions at Western Illinois University-Quad Cities, has been named interim director of the WIU Office of Admissions, which is based in Macomb, effective Feb. 1, until a permanent replacement is named. A national search is currently underway for a director of undergraduate admissions and enrollment services.
WIU Ag Mech Show Feb. 9-10 in Western Hall
The 2019 Agriculture Mechanization (Ag Mech) Club at Western Illinois University will host its 49th annual Farm Expo Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 9-10 at Western Hall. Admission to the expo is open free to the public from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m-4 p.m. Sunday. Free parking for the event is located in Q-lot, adjacent to Western Hall.
International Coffee Hour to Feature Spain Jan. 29
The Western Illinois University Center of International Studies will sponsor International Coffee Hour at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 29 in Horrabin Hall, room 1.
WIU Black History Month Celebration Schedule Released
The Gwendolyn Brooks Cultural Center (GBCC) at Western Illinois University invites the University and Macomb communities to participate in the annual Black History Month Celebration, which will be held in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the GBCC.
WIU to Offer Online Communication Degree Beginning in Fall 2019
Beginning in Fall 2019, Western Illinois University will offer an online degree in communication.
ROTC Military Ball Announces 2019 Date
WIU Western Illinois University's Department of Military Science has announced that the ROTC's Military Ball will be held Saturday, March 23 in the University Union Grand Ballroom.

Western Illinois University will host the 46th annual International Bazaar from 5-10 p.m. Saturday, March 2 in the University Union Grand Ballroom.

Phi Kappa Phi Accepting Nominations for Faculty Initiates
Phi Kappa Phi, the largest all-discipline national scholastic honor society at Western Illinois University, is seeking nominations from Western faculty for 2019 faculty initiates who have been at Western for five or more years.
A letter of nomination and a copy of the nominee's current detailed vita, containing a list of outstanding scholarly, teaching and service accomplishments, must accompany the nomination. Self-nominations are welcome.
Phi Kappa Phi members are encouraged to nominate colleagues who they believe are deserving of the honor. Nominations, which must be received by Monday, Feb. 26, must be sent electronically to Heidi Clemmens, chair of the Phi Kappa Phi Faculty Initiates Committee, at HS-Clemmens@wiu.edu.
