Col. Rock III (Rocky) Eighth Birthday Celebration March 2
On Saturday, March 3, Col. Rock III, WIU's beloved mascot, will officially become eligible for AARP (American Association of Retired Pups).
New Initiatives at WIU
Western Illinois University is moving ahead. That was the message behind two public events held Feb. 27 at the University's Macomb and Quad Cities campuses. WIU Announces Summer Camp Schedule
From "flying" on broomsticks to fishing in the Mississippi River, Western Illinois University's summer camps are a wonderful experience for youth of all ages. Sponsored by the Office of Study Abroad and Outreach, WIU has a variety of options to draw in kids from the region, state and even country. This summer three new programs will be introduced to a line-up of past favorites.
WIU Dance Marathon Raises Over $135k "For the Kids"
There is a Chinese saying that goes: "If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody." For centuries, the greatest thinkers have suggested the same thing: Happiness is found in helping others.
Sawhney: 2018 WIU Distinguished Faculty Lecturer
The Western Illinois University 2018 Distinguished Faculty Lecturer Rajeev Sawhney, will present "Greening the Supply Chain: Promoting Environmentally and Socially Sustainable Economic Development" at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 28 in the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) Recital Hall (Macomb) and at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 4 at the WIU-QC Riverfront Campus, room 103-104 (Moline). The lecture is open free to the public.
Mathematics Teachers' Conference
67th annual WIU Mathematics Teachers' Conference "Common Core Mathematics: Recognizing and Utilizing Structure" Friday, April 13 from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. Registration fee: $50.
Professional Development Hours will be available.
Mediation/Negotiations Update, March Mediation Dates Set
A mediation session was held Wednesday, Feb. 28, with additional mediation sessions scheduled for March 12 and March 29.
Association for Symbolic Logic's
The WIU Mathematics and Philosophy Department will host the Association for Symbolic Logic's (ASL) 2018 North American Annual Meeting on May 16-19.
