A summer internship experience by a Western Illinois University theatre student has transitioned into a Halloween-themed performance experience during the annual "Moon Over Macomb" event.

For Assistant Professor of Communication Stacey Macchi, a chance visit to the Western Illinois University campus as a high school student has developed into a passion for her alma mater and her adopted community that she is passing down to the students in her classroom each semester.

The Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors were on the Western Illinois University campus to cut the ribbon on a Currens Hall laboratory space that houses a new scanning electron microscope (SEM).
Community Art Program Offering Fall Classes
The Western Illinois University Art Education program in the Department of Art will present the Fall 2018 Community Art Program on Sundays, from Oct. 21 - Nov. 11, at the West Central Illinois Arts Center and Garwood Hall on the WIU campus.
WIU Miracle Jeans Day Oct. 11

On Thursday, Oct. 11, Western Illinois University employees are invited to participate in the WIU Dance Marathon's third annual Miracle Jeans Day, with proceeds of the event going to St. Louis-area Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

BOT Approves FY20 Budget Recommendations
The Western Illinois University Board of Trustees approved the Fiscal Year 2020 operating budget and capital budget recommendations, which will be presented to the Illinois Board of Higher Education, the General Assembly and Gov. Bruce Rauner, as well as the FY19 All-Funds Budget at its Sept. 28 Board meeting on the Macomb campus.

Hunt Named Director of University Technology-AIMS
Stacie Hunt, interim director of University Technology-Administrative Information Management Systems (AIMS) at Western Illinois University, has been named director of University Technology-AIMS, effective Sept. 1, according to WIU Interim Executive Director and Chief Information Officer (CIO) Rebecca Slater.
Cultural Café Nigeria Event Oct. 9 at WIU
Western Illinois University's Center for International Studies (CIS) will host the Cultural Café Nigeria event at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, in the University Union Heritage Room.
WIU-QC Engineering Receives ABET Accreditation
Western Illinois University-Quad Cities' degree program in Mechanical Engineering has been accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, and its general Engineering degree has been re-accredited. ABET is the global accreditor of college and university programs in applied and natural science, computing, engineering and engineering technology.

Lights up in London!
As part of the new Community Expeditions offerings from the Office of Study Abroad and Outreach, community members are invited to be among the first to join WIU President Emeritus Al Goldfarb and Kim McDaniel, Study Abroad and Outreach, on the inaugural London Community Theatre trip, March 9-17, 2019.
The trip will include tickets to productions, a bus tour of London and at least one visit outside the city. There will also be free time to explore and visit famous landmarks and museums.

Free Flu Shots
Free Flu Shots for eligible state employees will be given on Thursday, Oct. 11 from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the Union Heritage Room. WIU employees, retirees, survivors and other state agency employees who carry the state health insurance are eligible to participate. Please have your WIU ID card and state health ID card available at the door. Dependents and spouses are NOT eligible.
