President Thomas: Letter to University Community
Dear University Community, it is always my goal to be forthright and transparent in my communications with the University community. I have held 13 town hall meetings and two brown bag lunch discussions this semester alone, where individuals have had the opportunity to voice their concerns and where I have answered questions regarding a variety of topics, including the University's proposals during the negotiations process.
BOT Meeting Set for Dec. 15
The Western Illinois University Board of Trustees will consider the active duty tuition rate at the Friday, Dec. 15 Board meeting in the University Union Capitol Rooms on the Macomb campus.
WIU Featured in Illinois Education Research Council Report
Western Illinois University has been ranked among the top seven Illinois four-year institutions serving underserved students and appears in the new report, "Cornerstones of Student Success: Institutions Yielding High Return on Investment of Underserved Students," recently released by the Illinois Education Research Council (IERC).
Lotz Named Human Resources Director
Cynthia Lotz, interim director of human resources at Western Illinois University, has been named the director, effective Jan. 1.
University Counseling Center Receives Reaccreditation
The Western Illinois University Counseling Center (UCC) has been re-accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services (IACS), Inc., an Alexandria, VA-based organization of United States, Canadian and Australian counseling agencies. Western is one of five universities in Illinois with an IACS accredited counseling center.
WIU: Military Times "Best College" 2018
Western Illinois University has once again - for the eighth consecutive year - been selected as a Military Times "Best College" (formerly known as Best for Vets College") by Military Times magazine. Western is the only Illinois public four-year university in the top 70 among four-year schools and is one of two Illinois public universities appearing on this year's four-year schools' list.
New York City Community Theatre trip
The Office of Study Abroad and Outreach is now taking registrations for the long-running New York City Community Theatre trip. Co-leaders Tammy Honesty (former WIU Theatre and Dance faculty) and Kim McDaniel (Study Abroad and Outreach) are ready to lead you on more adventures around the city during the daily optional walking tours. Al Goldfarb, President Emeritus, WIU, continues to provide his expertise on show selection. Combining favorite locations and new insights, this trip is back for another round of subways, great food and unforgettable theatre.
