WIU Alumnus, Former Head of the Defense Intelligence Agency Moves to U.S. Cyber Command Post

U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Vincent Stewart, a 1981 Western Illinois University history graduate, has stepped down as the head of the Defense Intelligence Agency. He has been tapped to become the Deputy Commander of U.S. Cyber Command.

WIU Adds Academic Success Coach to Improve Student Retention

A new position within the Western Illinois University Advising and Academic Service Center comes with a goal of improved student retention and success.

WIU FFA Chapter to Host Pancake Breakfast Oct. 11

The Western Illinois University School of Agriculture Collegiate FFA (CFFA) Pancake Breakfast will be held from 7-10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11 in the Knoblauch Hall Cafe, room 239. Take-out and delivery will be available.

BOT Approves Sale of Former 60th Street Campus

The Western Illinois University Board of Trustees unanimously approved the sale of the University's former 60th Street campus in Moline at a special meeting Oct. 1 in Macomb.

Hanson Statue Unveiled at WIU

Famed Western Illinois University coach, athletic director and WWI and WWII Marine Corps veteran Ray "Rock" Hanson was remembered today on the WIU campus with the unveiling of a bronze statue of his likeness, created by WIU Associate Professor of Art Duke Oursler. The statue overlooks Hanson Field on the Macomb campus.

WIU Physics Department Ranks Second Nationally for Third Year

For the third year in a row, Western Illinois University has ranked second in the nation among institutions offering a master's degree in physics as its highest degree by the American Institute of Physics (AIP).

BOT Approves FY19 Budget Recommendations

The Western Illinois University Board of Trustees approved the Fiscal Year 2019 operating budget and capital budget recommendations, which will be presented to the Illinois Board of Higher Education, the General Assembly and Gov. Bruce Rauner, as well as the FY17 All-Funds Budget at its Sept. 29 Board meeting on the Macomb campus.

WIU Alumnus to Deliver Thurgood Marshall Lecture

Western Illinois University alumnus Robert E. Weems, Jr. will deliver the annual Thurgood Marshall Lecture, "Celebrating the Life, Legacy and 50th Anniversary of His Appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court," at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11 in the Multicultural Center.

The website,, contains the fact sheet, WIU Facts, Figures & FAQs, which provides a timeline regarding personnel actions (e.g., salary increases and furloughs). The fact sheet
also contains data and frequently asked questions surrounding mediation and the recent University Professionals of Illinois (UPI)/University proposals, which were also included in emails sent by the UPI to their members and by the University to all employees. Detailed questions-and-answers, the UPI's and University's proposals and the request for mediation letter posted by the University are also included on this website. This website will be updated as new information is available for release.

Flu Shots

Free Flu Shots for Eligible State Employees will be given on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017 from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. in the University Union Heritage Room. WIU employees, retirees, survivors and other state agency employees who carry the state health insurance are eligible to participate. Please have your WIU ID card and state health ID card available at the door. Dependents and spouses are NOT eligible.
