Smoke-Free Campus Task Force Established at WIU
To comply with the new Smoke-Free Campus Act, which will go into effect at public university campuses statewide July 1, all public universities were required to have a Smoke-Free Campus Task Force established by Dec. 31.

Mock DUI April 20
The dangers of drunk and buzzed driving will be presented Monday, April 20 as Western Illinois University Emergency Medical Services (WEMS), a volunteer student organization, re-creates a realistic scene of an alcohol-related accident at the 24th annual Mock DUI project.

Tree Planting April 22 to Remember WIU Students
Five Western Illinois University students who passed away during the 2014-2015 academic year will be remembered during a tree planting ceremony on the Sherman Hall west lawn at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 22.
Hubble Space Telescope Lecture Set for April 23

A variety of activities have been planned to celebrate the month-long event, which has a theme of "Equity and Ethics: Personal Health and Social Responsibility."

Western Illinois University's Interpersonal Violence Prevention Committee (IVPC) has planned a month of events as part of April's observance as Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM).

Western Illinois University's third annual Jani International Sporting Event (JAIHO) "Beep Ball" is set from noon-4 p.m. Saturday, May 2 at WIU's Vince Grady Field.
Benefits Choice Meetings
The Benefits Office staff will present benefits choice meetings at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday, May 4 and Thursday, May 7 in the University Union Sandburg Theatre (May 4) and Union Heritage Room (May 7) for current WIU employees.
During the benefits choice period, which runs May 1-31, employees (and retirees) may make changes to health and dental benefit plans, coverage for adult children, drop or add dependents and change life insurance plans.

Take me out to the ball game! All Western Illinois University employees are invited to join the Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) at the CSEC spring luncheon from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, May 7 in the Mac Gym at the Donald S. Spencer Student Recreation Center.

Ausbury Named April Employee of the Month
Heidi Ausbury, an office support specialist in the intercollegiate athletics department at Western Illinois University, has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for April.
Neumann Named Interim Provost
President Jack Thomas has named Kathy Neumann as interim provost, effective May 20. A national search for a provost will begin immediately.
Neumann Named CBT Dean
Kathleen Neumann, interim dean of the College of Business and Technology (CBT), and associate provost for budget, planning, personnel and technology, at Western Illinois University has been named as the dean of the college.
Wheeler Named COAA Advisor of the Month
The Council of Academic Advisor (COAA) Awards and Recognition Committee named Kenny Wheeler the February Academic Advisor of the Month.
Additional Summer Stipend Award Recipients
The recipients of the additional proposals that will be funded for the summer of 2015 are Patrick McGinty from Sociology and Anthropology, Kimberly Rice from Political Science and Timothy Waldrop from the Art Department.
WIU professor, chief clerk inducted into Honor Society
The Eta Epsilon Chapter of Phi Beta Delta at Western Illinois University inducted eight new members April 6. The purpose of the Eta Epsilon chapter is to recognize, and encourage, high professional, intellectual, academic and personal achievements in the field of international education. Applications are accepted year-round and an induction ceremony is held each spring.
