Ashley Luke: Capital One Academic All-America of the Year
The College Sports Information Directors of America named Leatherneck junior forward Ashley Luke as the Capital One Academic All-America of the Year for Division I women's basketball.
February 2015 Budget Update
On Feb. 18, Gov. Bruce Rauner delivered his budget address, and as outlined in his State of the State address from earlier this month, he has proposed a budget that has serious implications for our state and higher education.
WIU Provost Presents Program Review
WIU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Ken Hawkinson recently presented to faculty and staff an academic program review, which included recommended program eliminations, consolidations and reinvestments.

A new edition of the "Rural Grocery Store Start-Up and Operations Guide" has been released by the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs (IIRA). The guide is available for free download.
WIU Celebrates Women's History Month
March is National Women's History Month, and the Women's Center has released a calendar of events happening on campus and in the community.
Concerto/Aria/Composition Concert March 6
The School of Music (SOM) will sponsor its annual Concerto Concert, featuring WIU student winners of the annual SOM Concerto/Aria/Composition Competition, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 6 in the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) Recital Hall.
WIU Dance Marathon March 7
Western Illinois University will host its second Dance Marathon from noon-midnight Saturday, March 7 in the University Union Grand Ballroom.
WIU's 40th Annual History Conference May 9
The Department of History's 40th annual History Conference will be held Saturday, May 9 on the WIU Quad Cities Campus, 3300 River Drive, Moline, IL.

Western Illinois University's New Music Festival will host the annual Electronic Music Midwest Mini Festival Monday-Tuesday, March 9-10 in the COFAC Recital Hall.

Western Illinois University will host the 43rd Annual Performance Tested Bull Sale at 7 p.m. Friday, March 13 in the WIU Livestock Center.

The 35th annual Geodeland Earth Science Club Inc.'s Rock, Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show will be held Saturday-Sunday, March 14- 15 in the University Union Grand Ballroom.
Employment Fair for Veterans and Service Members March 25
A program designed to help veterans translate their service, education and experience into employment opportunities will be held at Western Illinois University from 2-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 25 in the University Union Grand Ballroom.
20th Annual Gardener's Day March 28
The 20th annual Gardener's Day will be held Saturday, March 28 at the Spoon River College Outreach Center on East Jackson Street in Macomb.

The Western Illinois University Department of Communication's 23rd annual Wayne N. Thompson Lecture will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, March 30 in the University Union's Sandburg Theatre.
Relay for Life April 10
The 2015 Relay for life, sponsored by the American Cancer Society and organized through Western's Colleges Against Cancer chapter, will be held from 4-10 p.m. Friday, April 10 on the Macomb campus.

Housewright Named Employee of the Month at WIU
Matthew Housewright, an applications programmer II in Administrative Information Management Systems (AIMS) at Western Illinois University, has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for March.

State University Retirement System Counselors In Macomb
Counselors will be conducting half-hour appointments to discuss retirement annuity estimates with employees.
The Council of Administrative Personnel (COAP) is currently seeking nominations for the 2014-2015 Employee of the Year Award.
This award was designed to recognize significant contributions made by a member of COAP who goes above and beyond the call of duty in serving Western Illinois University.

The Western Illinois University Foundation and the Office of Sponsored Projects will award up to 3 summer stipends in the amount of $3,000 each for Summer 2015.
URC Internal Grants Competition Deadline April 7
The University Research Council (URC) has announced that the deadline for the FY2016 Internal Grants Competition is 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015. This competition is for projects that will be conducted from July 1, 2015 - June 30, 2016.
Law Enforcement and Justice Administration (LEJA) Assistant Professor Emeritus Dennis Bliss, 65, passed away in Macomb Saturday, Feb. 21.
Facilities Management painter Kevin Hazell, 61, passed away March 2 in West Burlington.
