Hawkinson Named Kutztown University President
The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Board of Governors Chair Guido Pichini announced that the board has unanimously voted to select Ken Hawkinson, provost and academic vice president at Western Illinois University, as the 12th president of Kutztown University.
Additional Operating Funds Released
President Jack Thomas has approved the release of an additional 20 percent of unit operating funds for FY'15. This will bring the total released to units to 95 percent of the amount budgeted for this fiscal year.
Youth to Explore Enriching Topics this Summer
The department of Study Abroad and Outreach will offer four youth enrichment programs at the WIU-Macomb campus this summer.
WIU Designated Tree Campus USA
For the third consecutive year, Western Illinois University has been designated a Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation.

Author Grossman to Speak March 25
American novelist Lev Grossman will read from the last novel in his trilogy, "The Magician's Land" at 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 25 in the University Union Sandburg Theatre.

The School of Agriculture will host prospective students and their parents at its annual Spring Open House slated to start at 9 a.m. Friday, March 27.
6th Annual Donna Phillips 5K Fun Run/Dog Walk March 28
The Sixth Annual Donna Phillips Memorial 5K Fun Run and Dog Walk is set for Saturday, March 28.
Faculty Voice Recital March 29
School of Music Assistant Professor of Voice, Penelope Shumate, will be performing a Faculty Voice Recital at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 29 in the COFAC Recital Hall. Accompanying Shumate will be Associate Professor of Piano Jeffrey Brown.
St. Baldrick's Event March 29
Tanner Hall will sponsor the annual St. Baldrick's fundraising event for childhood cancer from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, March 29 in Tanner Circle, on University Drive.
Andrews to Perform Recital to Celebrate Pipe Organ Anniversary March 29
Linda Andrews, organ instructor for the School of Music and organist at the First Presbyterian Church, of Macomb, will present a recital to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the church's original Moller pipe organ at 5 p.m. Sunday, March 29 in the church.

Lutz Part of National Juried Art Exhibit
Regional artist Deb Lutz, an office manager in the Department of Geography, is displaying a piece of her artwork in the national juried art competition GALEX49 at the Galesburg Civic Art Center.
WIU IIRA Faculty Member Appointed Rural Sociological Society Executive Director/Treasurer
Cynthia Struthers, associate professor at the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs (IIRA), has been appointed as the incoming executive director and treasurer of the Rural Sociological Society (RSS). She will begin to serve her three-year term July 1.

State University Retirement System Counselors In Macomb
Counselors will be conducting half-hour appointments to discuss retirement annuity estimates with employees.
The Council of Administrative Personnel (COAP) is currently seeking nominations for the 2014-2015 Employee of the Year Award.
This award was designed to recognize significant contributions made by a member of COAP who goes above and beyond the call of duty in serving Western Illinois University.

The University Research Council (URC) has announced that the deadline for the FY2016 Internal Grants Competition is 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015. This competition is for projects that will be conducted from July 1, 2015 - June 30, 2016.
Retired Beu Health Center nurse Barbara Wuestenfeld passed way Thursday, Feb. 26 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Retired building service worker Walter E. Swiderski, 67, passed away Saturday, March 7 at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
