SUPER Blue Light 5k Fun Run Nov. 7

MACOMB, IL- Western Illinois University's Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society and Inter-Hall Council are co-sponsoring the SUPER Blue Light 5K Fun Run beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7 at WIU's Vince Grady Field.

The SUPER Blue Light 5K Fun Run will promote safety and aid in the fight against domestic and sexual violence. During the run, participants will pass as many emergency blue lights as possible on campus, allowing participants to learn more about the locations of these vital safety tools.

Annual PAS Gala is Nov. 14

The annual Performing Arts Society (PAS) Gala and Silent Auction, with a "Moulin Rouge" theme, will be held from 5:30-11 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14. The event, which raises money to provide free year-round arts programming for more than 6,000 area school children, will be held in the University Union Grand Ballroom. This year's gala is sponsored by MidAmerica National Bank.



2015 Fallen Soldier 5k Sets Record

This year's Fallen Soldier 5k at Western Illinois University Oct. 10 set a new record with close to 600 participants (595) registering, 100 more than the 2014 event, and making it the largest race held in McDonough County.

More than $18,000 was raised for the WIU Fallen Soldier's Scholarship Fund. Since the event's inception in 2011, more than $64,000 has been raised for the scholarship, which honors WIU alumni Capt. Derek Dobogai and Lt. Col. Robert Baldwin, who were both killed in the line of duty.
