Rocky on Parade 2015
The number of Rocky statues placed throughout Macomb will more than double in 2015 as the Western Illinois University College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) kicks off its Rocky on Parade 2015 campaign.
BOT Approves Collective Bargaining Agreement
The Western Illinois University Board of Trustees approved a five-year collective bargaining agreement for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 399 (Mechanical Maintenance/Heating Plant Unit) at its Dec. 19 Board meeting on the Macomb campus.
School of Ag Celebrates Teaching and Research Greenhouse Opening with Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony
The School of Agriculture held a ribbon-cutting ceremony that celebrated the opening of the initial phase of the School of Ag's Teaching and Research Greenhouse.
WIU Community Music School Starting Men's Chorus Program
The Community Music School is starting a new choral ensemble for men. Open to high-school aged students and community members, the new Men's Chorus program will begin rehearsals in late January.
WIU Faculty, Ensemble Part of Illinois Music Educators Association Conference
Western Illinois University will be well represented at the Illinois Music Educators Association All State Conference at the Peoria Civic Center, beginning Thursday, Jan. 29.
Vote for WIU: Stanley Safety Grant Competition
It's time once again to show that Leatherneck Pride is alive and well ... and in full force at WIU! Beginning 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, students, alumni, friends, faculty and staff are encouraged to vote for Western Illinois University each and every day as part of the STANLEY Security Together for Safer Schools grant. Votes for WIU can be made at stanleysaferschools.com, via SMS text message (wiuedu to 334455) and through Twitter (#STANLEYSecurity and #wiuedu) until 11:59 p.m. Feb. 12.
The top two schools who receive the most votes in each category will receive grants of security products and services from STANLEY Security. Western is in category two (8,000-19,999 students). The first place school will receive a $150,000 safety grant, with the second place school receiving a $50,000 grant.
Doktor Kaboom! Feb. 4
Doktor Kaboom!, an interactive one-man science variety show, is free to the public, and begins at 7 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the University Union.
Celebration Concert, William Elliott Whitmore Feb. 7
William Elliott Whitmore, a blues singer and musician hailing from Lee County, IA, will perform in the Vallillo/Holtz Performance Studio in Macomb at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7.
Showcase of Bands Scheduled Feb. 13-14
The 27th annual Western Illinois University School of Music Showcase of Bands will be held Friday-Saturday, Feb. 13-14 in the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) Recital Hall.

Sprinkle Named WIU Employee of the Year
The Western Illinois University Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) has named Denise Sprinkle, a route driver for the Western Illinois University Office of Document and Publication Services (DPS), the 2014 Civil Service Employee of the Year.
Ebert Named WIU Employee of the Month
Western Illinois University Library Specialist Noelle Ebert has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for December.
Beck Named Assistant to COFAC Dean
Jill Beck, former executive director of the McDonough County United Way, has been named assistant to College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) Dean Billy Clow, effective Jan. 5.
Smith Named Interim Director of Beu Health Center
John Smith, assistant director at Western Illinois University's Beu Health Center, has been named interim director of Beu, through June 30.
Brooks Named Interim Director of Gwendolyn Brooks Cultural Center
Erik Brooks, African American studies department chair, has been named the interim director of the Gwendolyn Brooks Cultural Center (GBCC).
Calhoun Named Interim Associate Vice President for Student Services
Rica Calhoun, assistant director of Equal Opportunity and Access (EOA), has been named interim associate vice president for student services, through June 30, according to Vice President for Student Services Gary Biller.
Terstriep Named IHSA Official of the Year in Girls Volleyball
Julie Terstriep has been selected as the Illinois High School Association's Official of the Year in Girls Volleyball.
