Western Illinois University will significantly enhance its Western Commitment Scholarship program for new freshmen applying for Fall 2015.
Illinois River Sweep Sept. 20
Personnel from Facilities Management and Horn Field Campus are encouraging members of the WIU and Macomb communities to contribute to their efforts for the Illinois River Sweep, an annual one-day cleanup event on the Illinois River and its tributaries.
WIU Founders' Day Sept. 23
Faculty, staff and community members are invited to celebrate "The History of Western Illinois University" at the 21st annual Founders' Day Celebration Tuesday, Sept. 23 in University Union Grand Ballroom on the Macomb campus, and at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24 in the Goldfarb Atrium at the WIU-QC Riverfront campus.
Banned and Determined: Banned Book Celebration Sept. 24
Western Illinois University Libraries will host the seventh annual Banned and Determined event starting at noon Wednesday, Sept. 24 in the Leslie F. Malpass Library, room 180.

The annual Town & Gown event that kicks off Western Illinois University's Homecoming activities is set for Thursday, Sept. 25 at The Forum in Macomb.

Brownfield Redevelopment Workshop Oct. 7 in Peoria
Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs (IIRA) at Western Illinois University will co-host a workshop to educate and assist communities about the potential for brownfield land reuse and revitalization.
WIU Homecoming Weekend Oct. 3-4
Alumni and friends will descend on the Western Illinois University campus Oct. 3-4 to celebrate Homecoming 2014: "WIU: A Hero's Homecoming: Who's Your Hero?"
The flu shot clinic will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 8 from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. in the University Union Heritage Room. Shots are available to all WIU employees/retirees and other state agency employees. Please have your WIU ID card and state health ID card available at the door. Dependents and spouses are not eligible.

Award-winning entertainer Rita Moreno will be in the University Union Heritage Room at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9 for "A Night with Rita Moreno."

Western Illinois University's third annual Fallen Soldiers 5k Run/Walk will be held Saturday, Oct. 18 at the WIU-Macomb campus.
