Moreno Book Signing Sept. 14
Richard Moreno, director of student publications and a faculty member in Western's English and journalism department, will be signing his latest book, "Myths and Mysteries of Illinois: True Stories of the Unsolved and Unexplained," from 10:30 a.m.-noon and again from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 at New Copperfield's Book Service in Macomb.

Summer Stipend Opportunities
The Western Illinois University Foundation and the Office of Sponsored Projects will award up to ten summer stipends in the amount of $3,000 each for Summer 2014.
Lytle Named Employee of the Month
Jason Lytle, a police officer in the Office of Public Safety (OPS), has been named the WIU Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the
Month for July.
Mhango Named Chair of Dietetics, Fashion Merchandising and Hospitality Dept.
Mary Mhango, formerly a professor in the College of Education at Marshall University (West Virginia), has been named chair of the Department of Dietetics, Fashion Merchandising and Hospitality. She began her post July 15.
Gregory Named Chair of Curriculum and Instruction Dept.
Anne Gregory, formerly a professor in the Boise State University (BSU) Department of Literacy, has been named chair of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. She began her post July 22.
Parsons Named Associate Provost
Nancy Parsons has been named associate provost for undergraduate and graduate studies, effective Aug. 1.
Bell Named Director of Athletics
James (Tommy) Bell, director of intercollegiate athletics, recreation and intramurals, Indiana University-Purdue University, Ft. Wayne (IPFW), has been named director of athletics. Bell will begin his duties Aug. 12.
Services for Subhash N. Jani, 73, professor of special education at WIU for 29 years, were held on Saturday, July 20.
Services for L. Elaine Derry, a retired long time WIU employee, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2 at the Sciota Christian Church.
