BOT Approves FY'15 Budget Recommendations
The Western Illinois University Board of Trustees approved the Fiscal Year 2015 operating budget and capital budget recommendations, as well as the FY'14 All-Funds Budget at its Oct. 11 Board meeting on the Macomb campus.
More MHS Seniors Considering WIU
For most of Macomb High School's (MHS) seniors, Western Illinois University has been a part of their lives for 18 years. Some students dream of going away to college, without ever considering the options available close to home. This year, however, more Macomb seniors are looking to stay local to continue their education. Western has seen an increase of 40 Macomb seniors who have applied to WIU.
WIU Volleyball Breast Cancer Awareness Event Oct. 25
The Western Illinois University women's volleyball team is pairing up with the Macomb County Park District for a walk-a-thon/dirt volleyball event Friday, Oct. 25 in honor of breast cancer awareness.
Annual WIU Marching Band Classic Set for Oct. 19
The 32nd annual Western Illinois University Marching Band Classic, for high school bands, will be held Saturday, Oct. 19 on Hanson Field.
Sotto Voce Quartet Oct. 20
The Sotto Voce Quartet will perform Sunday, Oct. 20 in the Western Illinois University COFAC Recital Hall.
Campus Sustainability Day is Oct. 23
University Sustainability Committee and Facilities Management at Western Illinois University will sponsor Campus Sustainability Day Wednesday, Oct. 23 on the Macomb campus.
Fifth Annual Beerfest is Oct. 26
For the fifth year, beer aficionados will gather at The Forum Saturday, Oct. 26 for the Performing Arts Society's (PAS) annual Macomb Beerfest celebration.
The Honey Dewdrops Oct. 26
Tri States Public Radio's Celebration Concert Series Oct. 26 concert at the Buchanan Center for the Arts in Monmouth, IL will feature the The Honey Dewdrops, the Virginia-based roots duet of Laura Wortman and Kagey Parrish.
Budget Presentations Oct. 29
Western Illinois University President Jack Thomas will host two special presentations Tuesday, Oct. 29 to discuss the University's current budget and the Fiscal Year 2015 budget.
Educational Equity Expert Nov 4. and 5
Educational equity expert Hugh Mehan, special project director at the Center for Research in Educational Equity, Assessment and Teaching Excellence (CREATE) at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), will visit Western Illinois University's campuses in Macomb and the Quad Cities in early November.

WIU Faculty Member Appointed to State Working Group
Western Illinois University Economics Professor Steven Rock has been appointed to a statewide working group that will consider ways to increase the retention and graduation rates for college students receiving assistance through Illinois' Monetary Award Program (MAP).
