2012 Provost Awards for Academic Excellence Winners Oct. 10
Six WIU faculty members have been named 2012 Provost's Award of Excellence Winners. They will be recognized for their achievements at a reception beginning at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10 in the University Union Lamoine Room.
Piano Festival Oct. 6-7
The School of Music will hold its inaugural Piano Festival, Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 6-7, featuring Northwestern University Associate Professor Alan Chow.
Rialto to Kick Off Film Series Oct. 8
The fall installment of the Film Series begins Oct. 8 and runs through mid-November at the Rialto Cinemas in Macomb.
Mock Presidential Debate Set for Oct. 9
Associate Economics Professors Bill Polley and Tom Sadler will debate from 5-7 p.m. in Morgan Hall, room 109. Polley will debate as Mitt Romney and Sadler as Barack Obama.
Special Effects Pioneer Thomas G. Smith Oct. 17
Noted filmmaker Thomas G. Smith, who is renowned for his special effects work on major films, will be speaking at the Sandburg Theatre in the University Union at 6 p.m. Oct. 17. "Movie Magic--My Thirty Years in Visual Effects."
WIU's First Fallen Soldiers 5K Run/Walk Nov. 10
WIU's Employee Wellness Committee, the Veterans Resource Center, and the WIU Foundation have joined together to sponsor the first Fallen Soldiers 5K Run/Walk, which will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 8 a.m.
