Three candidates will interview for the position of dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communication.
FYE Town Hall Meetings
The WIU First Year Experience (FYE) Review Committee will host a series of town hall meetings next week to discuss the review committee's report and to obtain input from WIU faculty, staff and students.
"Cocktails with Larry Miller"
WIU's Bureau of Cultural Affairs presents "Cocktails with Larry Miller" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 12 in the University Union Grand Ballroom.
Retirement receptions will be held for Computer Science Instructor Martha Klems and Judy Brown on Thursday, April 12 and for Journalism Professor Bill Knight on Thursday, April 19.

The deadline for 2012-2013 Civil Service Employees' Dependent Scholarship applications has been set for 3 p.m. Friday, April 13.

Planning & Budget Presentations
Western Illinois University's annual report presentations will be held from 8 a.m.-11 a.m. Thursday, April 19 and from 8 a.m.-11 a.m. Friday, April 20 in the University Union Capitol Rooms on the WIU-Macomb campus (Quad Cities Riverfront campus video-conference locations listed below). The presentations provide the campus communities with a progress report in support of the Higher Values in Higher Education Strategic Plan, accomplishments and outline goals - including fiscal savings suggestions - for the upcoming year.
The schedule is as follows:
- 8 a.m. - President Jack Thomas - welcome; President's Area (RF 218)
- 9 a.m. - Vice President for the Quad Cities, Technology and Planning Joe Rives (RF 111)
- 10 a.m. - Vice President for Advancement and Public Services Brad Bainter (RF 218)

Mass of the Children Symphony Finale
The Quincy Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of WIU School of Music Professor Bruce Briney, will present "Mass of the Children" as the finale to its "Landscapes" concert season at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 22 in Quincy Junior High's Morrison Theater. The event is open free to WIU faculty, students and staff. Featured guest soloist and former WIU faculty member Virginia Broffitt will perform. Tickets for non-WIU faculty, staff or students are $15 ($12 seniors). Children 18 and under are admitted free.
Video Captioning Resource Available
Did you know that videos posted on WIU's website intended for public consumption must be captioned? The Illinois Information Technology Accessibility Act (IITAA) requires it. But there is a captioning help available if you need it. Fill out the video caption request form.
