Michael Turner Arrested on DUI and Speeding Charges After "Monday Night Football"

Atlanta Falcons running back Michael Turner was arrested on DUI and speeding charges Tuesday morning in Gwinnett County, Georgia. Turner was arrested around 2 a.m. this morning and was then released at approximately 5 a.m. from the Gwinnett County Jail after being bonded out. The jail records are showing that they totaled $2,179 in bonds.

Turner was pulled over in his black Audi R8 on interstate 85 northeast of Atlanta after reaching a speed of 97 miles per hour, 32 miles per hour over the speed limit. The total bond for the DUI charge was $2,006, while the bond for speeding charge was $173, totaling the $2,179.

After being pulled over, Turner identified himself as “30-year-old Michael Turner of the Atlanta Falcons.” The officer claimed he could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Turner and he then decided to conduct a DUI investigation.

Before all of this mess started, Turner and the Falcons celebrated a 27-21 victory over Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. Turner set a franchise record last night scoring his 51st Atlanta Falcon touchdown. Turner also had 17 carries last night and rushed for a total of 42 yards in addition to that franchise setting touchdown he had in the first quarter.

After his best performance so far in the 2012-2013 NFL season, Turner perhaps celebrated a little too hard and will soon be paying the consequences. The team said in a statement this morning, that they are “aware of the situation” and that they will be “gathering more information on the incident.” It will be interesting to see how the Falcons will react to this situation, especially since Turner is a team veteran and is one of the most respected running backs in the game today.
