Stuff the Bus
Wednesday November 7th, Western Illinois University will once again be “Stuffing the Bus.” The event has been held since 2008 and hundreds of students collect food donations for local charities.
This year’s event is sponsored by Sodexo and University Housing and Dining Services. Over 50 student organizations and over 400 student volunteers will participate.
Donation collection points will be all around Macomb including at Hy-Vee, County Market, Jackson Street Market, Walmart, near the courthouse, and on a Go West bys parked in front of Sherman Hall. The collecting will begin at 6:30 a.m. and will go until 10 p.m.
Participating grocery stores also have “Helping Hand Bags” available for purchase full of non-perishable food items that can be donated.
WIU’s Black Student Association will then be assembling 225 Thanksgiving baskets to give to area families in need. Some food will also be donated to prepare for the Salvation Army annual Thanksgiving Meal. The remaining will be donated to Macomb’s Loaves and Fishes, Etc. food pantry.
