WIU Violin Festival

We are happy to announce the second edition of the Western Illinois University Violin Festival, on September 29, 2018. High school students are invited to participate in a masterclass, private sessions, and work on ILMEA excerpts as well as their solo repertoire. They will have the opportunity to play in the concert at the end of the day at COFAC Recital Hall.

2018 WIU Violin Festival Schedule

  • 9:00 –9:30 am at COFAC Recital Hall: Welcome and registration.
  • 9:30-10:45: Warm-up right hand, left hand, scales, excerpts (COFAC Recital Hall)
  • 10:55-11:50: Mini-lessons, guided supervised individual practice with faculty (Sallee Hall practice rooms)
  • 12-12:35: Lunch, Please let us know in advance of any dietary restrictions.
  • 1:45-2:50: Masterclass with all the participants (pianist provided), Dr. Julieta Mihai and Dr. Richard Hughey, WIU orchestra director (COFAC Recital Hall)
  • 3:00: Faculty and students concert
  • Reception and we hope to see you next year!
