Professor and Co-director of University Dance Theatre, Candace has an MFA from Arizona State University (1987). She has trained with Bella Lewitzky, Mel Wong, Bebe Miller, Daniel Nagrin and others. Her professional performance background includes being a company member with Desert Dance Theatre and performer with a. ludwig dance collective.

Candace founded and directed her own regional modern dance company, Two Rivers Dance Theatre. In 2000, Candace s choreography was selected to be presented at the Great Lakes Regional Festival as well as the American College Dance Festival National Gala.
In her 20 years at WIU, Candace has taught all courses offered in the dance minor curriculum as well as Laban movement analysis and allied movement therapies such as Bartenieff Fundamentals and Pilates. Her areas of specialization are modern dance technique, dance history, movement analysis, Pilates and performance/choreography

Candace is currently serving a second consecutive term on the Central Region Board of Directors for the American College Dance Festival Association. She has been the recipient of many grants, including the prestigious Lila Wallace Readers Digest Grant. She has also served as an Administrative Intern under the mentorship of President Goldfarb, is a former committee member of the General Education Council, and has been the recipient of various awards including the “Outstanding Teacher Award,” at the department and college levels.
