School of Music

Welcome! to the WIU School of Music

Welcome to the School of Music Website. I am very excited about the incredible quality of our program and how our faculty can meet your needs for a superior music education in a personalized environment. The ratio of music majors to full-time music faculty in the Western Illinois University School of Music is 6:1. That’s one faculty member for every six music majors.

Our music faculty are artist-teachers of the highest quality with specialties in all instruments, voice, choral, band, orchestra, jazz, music education, history, theory and composition, music business, and music therapy. In addition to their tremendous wealth of experience and national recognition as performers, conductors and scholars, their primary commitment is to provide the highest quality education possible for the music students at Western Illinois University.

Opportunities abound in all areas for your involvement and musical growth. School of Music performance and ensemble experiences include large, small, traditional, specialized, and unique musical productions and performing organizations, all the way from Marching Band, Musical Theatre productions, University Singers, to Jazz combos, Steel Band, Woodwind Ensemble, and Jazz Choir, just to name a few.

Scholarships are available for qualified students. Please contact us now for audition information. I would be happy to talk with any of you personally and let you know of the great things going on in the School of Music at Western Illinois University. Please continue to explore our site and contact us if you have questions or need further information.
