Summer Music Institute and Scholarships
The 2011 Summer Music Institute at Western Illinois University will begin on June 9 and run through July 1. Camps begin with a 4-day session specializing on instrumental group study, followed by three week-long sessions.
WIU Summer Music Institute will provide young musicians with a highly educational experience of studying with School of Music faculty/artists and guest clinicians/directors, while at the same time enjoying fun activities with new friends.
The primary purpose of the Summer Music Institute at Western Illinois University is to provide the best possible educational opportunity to young people for individual development in the knowledge, practice, and appreciation of the fine art of music in a nurturing musical environment.

The Western Illinois Regional Council-Community Action Agency (WIRC) is offering scholarships to eligible students interested in attending Summer Music Institute at Western Illinois University.
Scholarships are made possible with Community Service Block Grant-American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (CSBG-ARRA) Stimulus funding and are available to those students residing in the counties of Hancock, Henderson, McDonough, and Warren. Applicants must complete the WIU Summer Music Institute application form, the CSBG-ARRA WIU Youth Camp Scholarship application form, and provide documentation that the household meets income eligibility guidelines to be considered.
