WIU Students at ACTF

Western students and faculty attended the Region 3 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival at Michigan State in early January. During the four days of the Festival, Western students participated the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship Auditions, attended numerous workshops offered by faculty and professionals, exhibited design work, acted and directed in staged readings, and saw productions brought to the Festival from all over the region.

Total attendance at the Festival was over 1400 people, coming from colleges and universities throughout Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.

Western Illinois University’s students were among the most visible and highly honored at the Festival, receiving recognition as follows:

  • Blake Davy was part of the winning Design Storm team
  • Anna Cline and her scene partner Lorenzo Rush received the Festival’s one award for Outstanding Ensemble Acting
  • Chad Tallon received the one Classical Acting Award from the National Partners of American Theatre

Two faculty members were also recognized:

  • Adam Lewis was one of five recipients of the Faculty Service Award
  • Bill Kincaid was recognized by the National Partners of American Theatre as the Classical Acting Award Mentor for his mentoring of Chad Tallon
