In September, 7 UDT members and one faculty–Anna Themanson, Tempestt Williams, Melissa Johnson, Katherine Hallmon, Kimmi Nott, Tori Breedlove, Kelly Jilek, Kimberly Volk and Professor Candace Winters-March–participated in the McDonough County Alzheimer’s Walk. University Dance Theatre raised nearly $1,300.00 for the cause.

UDT Dance Clinic participants fall 2012

In October, UDT sponsored it’s biannual Community Dance Clinic, for local/regional school aged children. The clinic is a themed, three-hour, community service event that teaches dance and choreography to children. At the end of the clinic, children share what they have learned in a culminating performance for family members and friends.

The proceeds from the clinic registration function as a fundraiser for UDT enabling further UDT education via participation at dance festivals and workshops. The clinic usually enrolls approximately 35-40 children but this year it enrolled a record breaking 69 students!
